Looking for aftermarket manual trans to replace my T-5

Is there any trans out there that is a direct fit? I ask because I have a umi tunnel mounted torque arm that mounts to the crossmember and i dont want to have to buy a new one... (too damn expensive) I heard getrag used to make a direct fit 6 speed... The one thing i dont want to have to do is replace that crossmember and torque arm.. Any suggestions?

you have the t5/700r4 UMI crossmember? how good are your basic fab skills? I have the same crossmember and im using it with my tko600. All you need to do is make some spacers for each side crossmember mount, 1/2" thick total on each side. I used 2 - 1/4" thick pieces of aluminum on each side, it was just easier for me. Make them the same size as the mounting pads and drill/ream/file out the slots for the holes. Your done. the trans kit will bolt right in, just have to change the trans yoke on the driveshaft. no biggie. just make sure the bolts are long enough.

I can't get pics for you right now, the car is in the shop, but its really simple, i made them with a drill, sawzall and a round file. took maybe 2 hours at a leisurely pace.

fortespartsconnection sells the tko and the conversion parts, ie adapter plate, yoke, ect. it will cost about 2500total, what are you looking to spend on a trans vs just buying a new crossmember?

or its a used t56 and a new crossmember.

Re: Looking for aftermarket manual trans to replace my T-5

i was looking at that earlier... (website) $2500 is outta my price range.. I dont see the need for the tko-500 right now because i just have a 305... i plan on puttin in a 350 down the road but i think it would be cheaper o just get a world class and have it rebuilt. i think i'm just going to get a W/C t-5 and ha it rebuilt with mustang internals... (stronger)
