One way shifter cable

Ok so I replaced my shifter cable and the bracket that goes to the transmission pan (it was missing). Hooked up all the linkage and now I got a problem. I can shift from Park to every gear after up to 1 or 2. But when I want to shift it forward to D R N etc. the cable bends and it doesnt push the lever forward. Do I have this thing mis adjusted or what?

Heres pics of what its doing incase you dont get what im saying

Re: One way shifter cable

shifter cable is new from advance auto, its exactly the same as the old one i had. the old one was frayed. The white stuff is the plastic. The bolt goes thorugh it and it pivots on that.

Re: One way shifter cable

check at the shifter ..... sometimes the ears that hold cable in place will break and you'll be pushing the hole assembly forward instead of just the cable ...... i know cause need to replace mine and i have to hold the cable when i push shifter forward

no, i was referring to the putty looking stuff where the cable housing mounts to the bracket.

also, a new cable shouldn't be coming apart like that one is in the second pic. looks like the "new" cable is broke.

do yourself a favor and get a dealer one. those aftermarket ones are crap. i learned first hand before i got my megashifter.

part number should be: 10232154
