Metal on metal sound
While I was trying to locate my rear brake pad rubbing noise I had the rear of my car on jack stands. When I put the car into 1st and let off the clutch to get the wheels spinning. I started hearing a metal on metal rubbing sound coming from the transmission after I let off the clutch. It gets worse higher RPMs and in higher gears. It does not make this sound when I drive the car down the road. I don't know what to make of it. I just swapped the T-5 in about 6 months ago. Everything (clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, hydraulic system, etc..) but the tranny itself was brand new. What could be making this terrible sound?

Re: Metal on metal sound
ah sounds like a problem I fixed today, try checking your e-brake cable right above your driveshaft, sometimes they can fall off the brackets and cause it to drag on your driveline which has that metal on metal sound. worth to check it out. Goodluck

E-brake cables are tucked up in the tunnel and hooked in the clips. Nothing that I can see is making contact anywhere. It sounds like it's coming from the tranny. I had a buddy standing beside the car that said that's where he heard it coming from too.
