I just bought a 1986 Z28 Yellow Camaro , She is a beauty but so far I have 3 main things I really would like to get fixed asap but I was curious if anyone might know the problem so the mechanic doesn't try and rape me .

First Problem - She starts up fine and she sounds great but when I put it to a stop or for instance am at a stop light it starts to slowly die down and then eventually stalls , So If I want to prevent this then I hold the break down and rev it .


Second Problem - My speedometer fiddles , for instance when I am driving and I am at 30mph it will bounce between 30mph and about 35ishmph and its even worse when I am at 80mph it will jump from 80mph to 90mph .

Third Problem - When I pull it out of Park and go from Reverse it will jerk a little bit and then go to Drive it will jerk again .

I assume it is a tune port 305. If not sounds like you need a carb rebuild.

 

For the first problem, screw a fuel pressure gauge onto the fitting and take it for a drive. Could be as simple as a dirty fuel filter.
