Help with tranny ! ! !
Help with tranny ! ! !
I pulled my motor last week to do some work on it,and when I put it back in the trans won't go into reverse or any of the drive gears ! I bolted the torque converter on and slipped the tranny in,hooked everything up, and nothing. Here's some backround, It's a 700r4 w/a 3500 stall 9". Not sure of the manufactuer. It shifts into park and nuetral and clicks through all the detents okay. The cooler lines aren't blocked. I pulled the pan and the fluids bright red with no signs of metal shavings anywhere. I've previously yanked the computer,so there's no electrics on the trans. The trans worked perfect before I pulled it out of the car to do the motor work.
I'm stumped ! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I posted this in trans board also.

Whooooaaaa, back up. You bolted the Torque conveter up to the flywheel and then installed the tranny? You just smashed your pump, and probably ruined the conveter. Sorry dude.

I read your post on the Transmission board, and I know you ruined the converter, but the pump would be the first to go, so if the converter is ruined, then the pump is 99% chance of being ruined also. I would hate for you to replace the converter and bolt it all back up and still have nothing. do yourself a favor and make sure that the rotor inside the pump is not broken. You may be able to see it well enough if you remove the Torque Converter Seal (make sure you get a new one.). Good luck.
