Does B&M Trick Shift additive work????
#2
I used it in my old tranny, emphasis on old. It definitley firmed up the shifts, but after a few months the tranny puked. Don't know if it is related or not, but I'm not taking chances. I've been told that it is just thicker is all.

You could just upgrade to F-Code trans fluid. It contains more shift additives like B&M Trick shift does, but won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Dana at Probuilt said once that it was not a good idea to run type F fluid in a GM trans. Maybe he will step in and explain it but as far as I remember it had something to do with the fluid being designed for the type of clutch material used in Ford trannys and was not compatible with GM materials.

If that were true adding fluids like B&M Trick Shift would be bad too. The only difference is that F-Code and Trick Shift contain higher levels of friction modifiers. The higher level makes the clutch pack grab earlier from my understanding.

JAY87GTA, you were right the B&M Trick Shift will do exactly what it did to your transmission. The so-called B&M Trick Shift is nothing more than modified Type "F" transmission fluid. I have talked to Borg Warner, Raybestos, and others who work with the many types of transmission fluids, and who can test for holding power and how the clutches will hold up. The results were the type "F" has better static holding power (Park or Neutral to Drive), but the dynamic shifts (1-2,2-3,3-4) the fluid has about 14-19% less holding power than the Dexron 3.
As you can see the problems with the 700R4 is not the static clutches, but the dynamic clutches or band. If you want further information on this call me at 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST.
Glad Too Help!!!
