'87 5 speed problem

I have an 87 IROC with the 305ci 5 speed (69,000 miles). Lately, when I shift into 5th gear, it slips out, and I'm in neutral. I first thought that I hadn't pushed the shifter all the way up, but it has happened 6-8 times. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? What should I check? Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: '87 5 speed problem

Sounds like the 5th gear synchronizer is worn out, or a bent shift fork. Time for a rebuild.
