car turns off on reverse.

my car turns off sometimes when i put it on reverse my rpm's go all the way down and it just turns off. i recently put 3.73 gears and a new auburn limited slip but its been doing it even before that. it has a 700r4 tranny that i just rebuild about two years ago. can someone tell me what it is?

Re: car turns off on reverse.

Don't know if this could be all or part of your problem, but I had a vacuum leak that killed my engine when I put the tranny in reverse. Drive was fine, but it didn't like reverse. I didn't think the two were related, but I found a couple of small leaks under the hood and the problem is gone.
