Is this a problem or not?

I have an auto 700R4 in my 91 fbird and I can move the shift between OD and N without having to push the lil' button on the shifter. These are the only two positions that can be moved in this manner though. Just wondering if this is normal.

Yes, that's what it's supposed to do. Actually you should be able to pull it back from reverse to drive without the botton. Also up from first to OD.
