Neutral Spring
About two years ago, I had my World-Class Borg Warner T-5 was rebuilt. When I got it back, and put back into the car, the neutral return (spring?) is gone. How or what do I have to do to get that back? Please help me. Every once in a while, while shooting down the track, I miss fourth gear because the stick hits the gate. Please help me!
Thanks
Brandon

There is no such part.
If the shifter doesn't seem to return to the center by itself, the only thing that can cause that is the shifter, not the trans.
Get a Hurst Comp Plus, you won't believe how much better it is than the POS stock garbage.

That's what kind of shifter this is!!!!! It's the Hurst Comp/Plus with the black anodized stick and I bought a T-handle for it, but that's beside the point. What causes this?

Is it the black spongy thing that rests between the transmission and the console cut out for the shifter that makes the shifter go to the center when in neutral, because my car doesn't have it. My dad's S-10 has one, I thought my Iroc did at one time, but one of my ten cats must have pissed on it and it probably got thrown away. Someone please let me know!

The only springs that have anything to do with that are inside the shifter. I have the Comp Plus also, but I have never taken it apart, so I can't tell you what's in there. Mine's just getting broken in good, it only has about 250,000 miles on it so far.
Maybe a call to Hurst tech support is in order. I know in years past they would rebuild any of their shifters for a very nominal charge (like $25 or something), that may be what you'll need to do.

Well, I got ahold of the Hurst Tech. people. Now-a-days, the nominal rebuild charge is $60! Man! It sounds like all I need is a spring or two, why can't they just send me those? Well, I'll find out tomorrow just what exactly is wrong with it, cause I'm gonna take it out and examine exactly what the hell is going on in there.

The Hurst tech guy is going to send me the springs for free! How cool is that!
