clutch affecting engine pressure

i was driving down the highway at 85mph and when i came to a stop on the off ramp i couldnt shift into 1st or 2nd gear in my car and when in tried to put it into reverse the gear started to grind. well im prety sure that it has something to do with my clutch but heres the puzzler. when i come to a stop after riding at 85 mph and the gears wont go in, i also notice that my presure guage shows my engine pressure at zero even though the engine has the right amount of oil and the oil filter is good.i put the car at 1000rpms and the oil pressure comes above 0. i drive this car everyday and it never shows the engine pressure at 0 if i dont ride the highway. any help would be nice because i have no idea how my clutch would affect my engine pressure

Re: clutch affecting engine pressure

your clutch has no effect on the oil pressure.

The sender or gauge could be going bad. If not, its the oil pump and your motor will be toast shortly

Oil pumps almost never go bad, but if it did and the oil pressure actually was 0, you'd know it immediately from all the ugly noises the engine would be making.

Yeah the noise is instantanious... if you change the oil + filter, and start it up the first time, it will be loud for a few seconds untill the oil primes, and then it quiets down immediately. Thats what it would sound like driving, except worse.

Re: clutch affecting engine pressure

the reason i thought it was the clutch was because that the engine runs fine in town but becomes weird only when the clutch doesnt stop. in town i will run the car to 3500-4000rpms sometimes and ill drop some rubber on the road but when im driving on the highwy only doing 2500-3000rpms and come to a stop the pressure drops. this is just puzzling me

Re: clutch affecting engine pressure

The pressure drops after you're stopped, or while you're stopping?
