Clutch Problems (Pics Included)

Ok so I bought a 83 Trans Am, and the clutch wont engage. Of course I can start it in gear and power shift just fine. The guy I bought it off of said its the clutch cross-shaft and there are no parts linking to that. Here are some pictures of what I think the problem is not to familiar with Transmissions.

Im not sure with it can be just bolted to the frame or if that piece goes into a hole on the cross-member next to the back of the motor and pivots. Maybe someone has some hints on were to start.

This still has the mechanical linkage eh?
You probably need to adjust it. Got a haynes for your car? They have the instructions in that. You loosen the locknut, and thread out the rod until you have ~3/4" of freeplay or so, then snug it back up.
