Why won't it shift (long)

Ok just got my car back from the shop. had the trans (700r4) rebuilt, carb overhauled and the whole car tuned. My mechanic said the the whole computer was unhooked so he hooked it back up and told to drive it around to get reprogrammed.
Anyway it stall a couple of times in OD and D
while I was sitting at a light. Service engine and clutch lights came on. I drove home from work and got the stall problem to stop but my car while not shift out of 2'nd.
very frusterating. no money and a car I can't spank stangs with
sorry it was so long

have your mechanic adjust the tv cable on your trans, I noticed that sometimes you have to play with the tv cable until you get it where its right, yeah-man, its agg, but well worth it once you get it going..Also on my trans it said that it you have problems getting it to shift after initial install to jack the rear up and run the mph to 100 if needed or until it shifts. It went on to say that this process will clear any debris in the pump and it should be fine from there on in..I tell ya it was scary when we did it, the thought of my car falling off the lift at 100mph, but from then on in she shifts awesome...I hope this helps
