cant figure out what is clunking...

whenever i give sudden gas or let off suddenly, it feels like the rearend has a bunch of play and wants to turn right off the car. you can feel it in the floorboards when it does it too. i had a loose sway bar end link, replaced that, and no difference. what could this be? everything looks fine underneath the car. would a driveshaft do that? what could it be?

differencial mount?, LCA Bushings shot?, Possible U-joint (most likely not thought because they usually make clunking while driving to)

tranny mount...get a prybar and pry between the tranny and crossmember, if the rubber seperates the mount is bad....get a poly one the rubber ones suck

i dont think its a trany mount, its been off and on twice and is still doing it. its is also a poly mount. where is the differential mount and LCA bushings?

it does clunk while a am driving, just not all the time, lk only when i shift or am at low rpms, or sudden throttle.

Check the trq arm bolts! My friends car kinda clunked, looked under there, and one of the bolts was missing, the other one I could spin by hand

Re: cant figure out what is clunking...

the bolts on the rearend or tranny? yea the front one was missing but i put a new one in... i will check them again though.

the only other thing i noticed was the lk scissor bar type deal which runs parallel to the axels has a small bend in it. to me it looks like it wouldnt affect its job, but maybe thats it...

Re: cant figure out what is clunking...

so i was assuming that the garage put the tranny mount bolt in, but i have learned over the last few years not to assume anything.

there was no bolt going through the crossmember into the mount.

i am bassically guessing and checking to figure out what size and thread it is... does anybody know off the top of their head?

thanks guys.
