Rearend Gears in 88 GTA?

what gears were available in 88 GTA's w/limited-slip. I have access to one if I want it, but I want to know if they came with 2.73's because I did the turn the tire thing and the shaft turned less than 3 times. Seems kinda dumb to put 2.73's in a limited-slip rear!

easy way to find out is to pull the cover and find the ratio stamped on the gears. it would look something like this 11:41. just find the ratio and divide and you'll have the ratio.

2.77 was one of the gear ratios available in the 9 bolt. Sounds like that's what you found.

It's a 10bolt rear and it is still in the car so I don't want to pull off the cover if I don't have to.

Is this a 305 GTA? All 350 f-bodies in the late 80's got 9-bolts, either 2.77 or 3.27. If its a 10-bolt in an 88 GTA, then it has to be a 2.73 rear end.

My 87 GTA 305 5spd came with a 9 bolt w. 3.45. It got a 350 put in it and 3.73 gears. Looking to get rid of the 3.45.

Do all late- 80s 3.27 9-bolts rears have posi differentials too?

As far as I know, all 9-bolts are posi with disc brakes.

Are you sure dude? Count the number of bolts in your differential. You should have the 9-bolt 3.27 rear end in your 88 GTA.

My 88 GTA came with 327s. I believe most of the 5.7s came with them that year. The other option was 345s and I believe they put them in the 5.0s.

Also I am pretty sure the 5.0s had the 5 speed manual trans with the 345s, not the 5.0s with autos.
