too late for shift kit??

my 700r4 was rebuilt 3 years ago,it was a great transmission,it still is a great transmission...........just a little more broken in . I saw a B&M shift kit today,it looks easy to install would the heavy duty version shorten my trans. life under normal driving conditions?? can I restore some performance by adjusting the TV cable, clutch bands? would I even benifit from a shift kit with a sloppy 700r4?

your transmission will actually last longer with a shift kit.if you are going to use the "B&M" kit. i have a suggestion. i found that once i had installed mine that the 1-2 & 2-3 shift was actually way too firm.very hard might be a better way to describe it. it was so hard that my wife would no loner ride in my car becuse it would hurt her back from the violent shifts.and after awhile it was even getting on my nerves.
so here is my suggestion. when you install the 1-2 & 2-3 accumulator piston spacers.only install the lomg one.not"both" of them. this is what i did. it was certainly a pain in the *^& going back into the transmission to remove the small spacers from both accumulators, but it was worth it. thanx,ANDYZ28

Avoid the B&M shiftkit, it is trash and will kill your tranny eventually. EVERY tranny that I know of that at one time had a B&M kit, **** the bed sometime down the road. If I were you, I'd go with a TransGo shiftkit, I have one and it's very, very good.

The street/strip version shifts very hard but the Heavy Duty is not so bad. Yo upick which one you want and do the only the mods for your choice.

The B&M shift kits are fine. If they do break early it's only because the shift so friggin' hard that they get abused if not filter/fluid/temperature watched... I recommend the B&M TransPak, though. A little more thorough and worth the extra $25 or so over the ShiftImproverKit...

.5 tv boost valve and a vette servo. You won't need the shift kit.

Put in the Trans Go Performance along with the .500 main boost valve, .296 intermediate/reverse boost valve, & Corvette servo. You cannot do better than this.
Glad Too Help!!!

Definately reset the TV cable; mine seems to slide out every few months. In fact some people forget it after their shift kit, and wonder why the trans doesn't shift as hard anymore. They reset the TV cable, and "wow!"
