Quick question..(non thirdgen)
Quick question..(non thirdgen)
Hey- My girlfriend's '85 olds calais just had a tranny failure. it's an auto I think a
TH-125. My question is how hard is it to swap out the old tranny for a new one, at least compared to a thirdgen? Specifically, are there any tight spots that are really hard to get to, etc..
Any help will be much appreciated
thanks

It's front wheel drive, right? I'd imagine it's still a pain; yeah you can probably get at the tranny-to-engine bolts, but that's all I know. A Haynes (or Chiltons) should give you the procedure.

NestZ28, My friend Jason who has no mechanic inclination, had a 90 or 91 cutlas calais. His clutch whet out and he had to remove his ft. wheel drive tranny to get to it. If he was able to do it it can't be extremely difficult. An auto shouldn't be much harder.
