shudder?

If I hit the gas hard sometimes the drivetrain will shudder for a second before the power really engages.

Obviously something is wrong, but what?
Tranny?
Torque converter?
Gears?

I did search but obviously (shudder) is a kinda vague keyword...

I have no other noises or shifting issues at all and car drives fine the rest of the time.

any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Re: shudder?

my 92 used to do that especially when accelerating on turns but occasionally on straight line launches as well. I installed a tranny cooler for the 700R4 and tightened the torsion bars up and the shudder went away for me. Hope this might help ya

Re: shudder?

OK, after thinking about it I have no idea how either of those things would help?
A cooler would only help if the problem only happened when hot, but it happens cold too.
And I understand how torsion bars MAY cause a shudder, BUT the shudder I am talking about is clearly preventing the power from hitting the wheels, so again I don't see how that could be it??

Re: shudder?

Anyone else have any ideas or similar problems?

Sounds like your TV cable may be bad or out of adjustment.

Re: shudder?

Thanks guys.

Turns out my pan gasket sprung a good leak since I last checked the fluid (which was recent) so little to no fluid is always gonna cause problems! LOL

Feels like a new trans now

Re: shudder?

glad to hear you figured it out... I neglected to say when I installed the cooler my tranny had a leak as well so I replaced the filter and gasket...... and yes fluid always helps mechanical parts work better lol

Re: shudder?

Thanks 87. I have to keep reminding myself, check the cheapest and simplest things first, they are usually the fix! LOL

Now I can go back to thinking about fun stuff, like some nice loud side exhaust dumps )
