1st fluid change ???

well i will be doing the first fluid change in my replacement camaro soon . i do believe in synthetics . my question is about the rear end . i have GU2 , G80 , 2.73 limited slip/positraction . do i need the G.M. additive with synthetic ? i will most likely use it anyway . i am just curious if it is needed/required ? thanks .

Re: 1st fluid change ???

from what i been told its always a good idea to put the additve in anyway, some come with it all ready so look on the label real good tom, that way you aint buying additive when its allready got it in it, i run royal purple in my peg leg, no complaints from it, but not much to brag about also

cant wait to she her!!!!!!!!!!

Even with synthetics, you'll need the additive. I run Mobile One with GM additive.

Re: 1st fluid change ???

just incase tom asks (and hell i want to know also) will the rear end oil that says "For Use In LSD's" would that have the LSD additive in it allready and be good to use, or do you still need to go used the LSD additive

i know on the dana 80 LSD on the motorhome i used some kind of synth for LSD's that i got from a big rig rear end shop, and they said i was perfect for that dana 80 LSD

but heck i cant remember the name of it and plus its alot heavier oil than what our cars take

Re: 1st fluid change ???

well if JamesC says to do it i will . even if he just a kid i respect his opinion . ( just a joke james , hope you take it that way ) , ( james likes to help us older guys ) i expect lots of nasty/black gunk when i pull drain plugs . i will try and flush it all out before i refill . anything i should look for ? i do , do this stuff myself . magnets are a no brainer . anything else ?

Re: 1st fluid change ???

Royal Purple says that that additive is already included.

I've gone 100,000 miles between 2 fluid changes using only the Royal Purple with my Zexeltorsen 3.42 posi from an '02 SS. Not a sign of a problem.
