1992 trans in a 86 iroc


will this work right? ,I assume it will,I was just wondering about computer,and electical connections to trans.

Engine: 357 vortec finished. need tuning
Transmission: Still works
Axle/Gears: need 3.73
zee28,
Congratulations on getting a hand on a 92 700r4. It is a much stronger tranny and will definitly work on you 86 IROCZ. You may have to change the yoke on your drive shaft since the 92 tranny have the 30 spline. The 86 driveline has the 27. Check first, I maybe wrong but I just did a tranny swapp 2 weeks ago and we had to swap out a 27 spline yoke for a 30.

the 92 tranny will also have an electronic speedo sensor while your car came with a mechanical speedo. you could either switch speedometers...or maybe swap the tail off your old one...if thats possible on an auto trans

I put a 90 tranny in my 86 and had no problems with the driveshaft fitting.

Axle/Gears: 12 Bolt 3.73
Its not the yoke that has a different spline it's the converter= '86 has 27 teeth-'92 has 30teeth.

Dyno,that makes sense.so the yoke doesnt have to be changed.just the converter,right?
