question about 3rd gen rear ends???
what are the measurements from wheel mounting face to other wheel face?
also i was wondering what rear end a car im thinking about getting has...
1988 GTA, 350tpi auto.
should it be the 9 bolt 3.27 gears with posi?
and should it have an aluminum driveshaft?

GTAs are generally 3.27 gears...All are posi, all are disc.
The aluminum driveshafts were a separate option & not specific to the rear end.
As for the width....I'm not real sure. The only thing I know is, the 4th gen rear are 1.75" wider per side, but I also hear the LS1 car rears are only .75" wider than the LT1 rears, but nobody has confirmed that.

I think axle flange to axle flange is around 63". Maybe 65". If you use the search feature, it will probably show up. It's been asked before.
The 88 GTA with the 5.7L will probably have a 3.27 9 bolt diff with posi. I doubt it will have an aluminum driveshaft from the factory.
Why do you need to know the width? The only other diff that will be a direct fit is from another third gen or a fourth gen but the fourth gen diff is wider by 2" on each side. You can't put some other junkyard diff under a third gen without doing a lot of suspension modifications.
