I own a 88 camaro 2.8 5 speed. comming home from work i had to down shift to fourth gear when i went back to fifth gear there was nothing trere. like neutral.no grinding no noise what so ever. i have reverse through forth.i plan on tearing it down next week and i would like to know what i should look for??? i only have the weekend to fix it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Axle/Gears: 12 Bolt 3.73
There is a snap ring that holds the drive gear on the main shaft, it sometimes slips off. You'll see it when you pull off the tail housing. Be sure to get a new snap ring when you put it back together and don't stretch it to much when reinstalling it. When you put the gear back on you just need to tap in on with a brass punch or similar device.
