I am looking at getting a 350 and 700r4 combo (95k ish miles for 300) It is fI from a 90. My question is, I am going to be converting it over to a carb setup (it is going in an 86 iroc that is fully gutted, including all harnesses and wiring) that will just be used for friday night drags. Do you need a tv cable on it for the tranny to work correctly in this situation. Would I be better to just get a crate motor a friend has with a spun bearing and do a rebuild and pick up a th 350 or powerglide?
I thought about just getting a manual valve body, would that work without the tv although that might b a bit down the road.
I got the car for free, so it is just gonna be a cheap weekend thing.

 

You still need a TV cable. The manual valve body may not, depending on which one you have.
