ticking/knocking coming from rearend
i have a 92rs and just recently i have heard a ticking sound coming from the rearend. when i got under to check it out, i saw that the front seal is leaking. the fluid was pretty low. i filled it up, but the noise continues. also, when it was on stands, i thought the limited slip was not engaging properly and the left rear tire had a bad wobble.could this be the gears or is it just a bad bearing from lack of lubrication?

yeah you could of hurt a bearing. you should add a bottle of gm posi additive. it may just be the posi unit making the noise.

You could have several things going wrong. My car wasn't running when I got it, and when putting it together, I discovered the pinion nut was loose. Even after tightening, the seal leaked, and the rear was noisy (open). Replacing the seal and changing the fluid did not help. I finally gave up on it and changed out the rear. The problem with the loose pinion is it changes the contact angle between the pinion and ring gears, and will eat them up. Actually, that's about all the good news for a loose pinion. I'd highly recommend getting back under there to check that out.
Your tire wobble could be from either a bent rim or bent axle flange, or both. This could have been caused by sliding into a curb or other immovable object. If it's just the rim, you're in luck. If it's the flange, you need a new axle.
Being low on gear lube could very well have caused damage to bearings, gears, and the posi itself. Why do you think the posi was not engaging properly while on the stands? It's understandable, as the noises you're hearing could very well be the posi unit.
It really sounds like you need a major overhaul, or a rear replacement.
