i get a code 23 for the vss and the speedo doesn't work and at the same time this happened the shift lite went out and i know it is not the bulb. so if i fix the vss will the shift lite work. also where is the vss once i got it looked at and they said i needed a gear i bought the gear then they said it was a gear in the tranny that was missing. if this makes sense to anyone reply.

I thought that I had the gear in the tranny missing too, but I lucked out. My cable was broken. I would get under your ride, and check it out. What does the gear that you bought look like? I don't really trust any shops, so I always do things myself.

i bought the car like that and the kid said he had a new cable put in. the gear was orange and small they said it was suppose to conncet to the gear in the tranny. then they said the gear was lose in the tranny cause it is suppose to mesh with the orange gear i had. and also the orange gear i replaced it because the one that was there before was worn bad.
