Shift kit woes, Need help ASAP

Hey guys, I'm putting in a B&M shift kit all was well until we went to put it back together and cannot, at all, I mean ever find the copper flashed ball bearing for slot A. Do I need this, or can I buy one?

I put that same shift kit in my car and I followed it do the letter and i couldnt imagine what that little check ball would do but i imagine its important because i removed alot of things that did not get reinstalled but they made a point to tell u to put it back in so i would. call b&m and talk to their tech line, very helpful. talked to me when i did mine because i wanted to make sure that i followed directions properly.

I was just wondering what the gold check ball did, or if it could be replaced with something else. ATM I can't do anything until I get that ball.

The reason you may not be able to find it is bacause most rebuilders leave it out after an overhaul. The copper flashed tv exhaust is never put back. Forget about it. You are fine.

I searched the hell out of that online and found that, thanks man.

Anyway, I put it all back together, put the nice B&M pan on.. and guess what... Doesn't shift into gear, so now, I get to take it back apart again and start over...

well learn something new everyday. i had a similar problem when i was putting my valve body back up too. because i think u have to put the brass looking rod that appears to be used for the shifter in while the body is half on. call it ghetto but i broke the end off of that little rod when i tried putting it in so i figured what the heck and i put a little bead of weld on the end of it to keep it from falling out of its little hole. it was on there good but i was a little skeptical so i ended up buying a new rod and putting it on a week or so later

Re: Shift kit woes, Need help ASAP

Well that little rod was a pain, but this rises a new question..

I put the ball bearings where the book told me to, I applied a little grease to hold them in place. Now, here comes the problem. I put the rubber gaskets where they were supposed to go, and put the spacers where they had to go, EVERYthing was followed.

I now have no reverse, my clutches are slipping like hell in OD, D, 2, and 1. But they work. Reverse is completely gone. I brought the car up to 105 Celcius to try and melt the grease to see if that was it, and to my avail, nothing. I also topped up the fluid because it was a bit low, and still. Nothing. Now what?

Sounds like it could be the pressure valve or something.. It's coming apart, again, tommorow.

Yea, I pushed the button, pulled it tighter, and it ratcheted back in.
