How much power does it take......
How much power does it take......
How much power does it take to bust the imput shaft out of the drum?
This is what I did to my 700R4.
The trans guy said that he has never seen this before, and says it would take a hell of alot of torque to do.I did NOT do this on the bottle.
My rebuild now just went up to about 3K.
$700 just for the TC,but it should kick *** when its done.

Hey Nitro -
I see you're from Rockaway - that makes us neighbors, seeing as I'm on the next mountain over.
Where'd you take the trans to be rebuilt?
Do you ever hang out at the Telemark tavern?

Originally,I was going to spend about 2K.
That includes removle/install,trans cooler,
B&M WOT shift kit,B&M govenor Recal kit,and
Raybestos "blue" clutches.
I was thinking that the B&M TC that I installed 4 monthes ago was to be reused. When I found out that there was alot of metal passed threw the TC,I decided to get a new one.
I went with a custom made TC that cost $700
Its a 9.5" with a 2800 stall,based on all the mods that I have.
I cant say how strong it will be,but the trans guy is using all the best(strongest) parts I can get.He knows that this car is raced.
Nitro Don
I pick it up today, yeah!

Sorry blade,
Is there a way to pile them up,so that I can write on the full page, not just the left side?
On a better note:I got the car back last night.Didnt really beat on it,but with that
TC it really pulls hard.Smoked the tires with a light throttle.
Cant wait to change thoses valve springs!

Fastbroker,
The cam is a COMP CAM 266HR. Is specs out as 210/220 .500/.510(1.5) 114 LSA. Since Im running 1.6 rockers it jumps up to a
.533/.544 lift.
Im going remove these heads and get them fully ported and throw in COMP CAMS
230/244 .544/.576(1.6) 112 LSA.This cam looks like a better nitrous cam to me.

Nitro Don,
Sounds like you put about 350 horsepower to the ground based on your track numbers.
I run a stock input shaft on my 700R and never had a problem there in about 11 years of racing it. I would bet something was just goofed up in there causing it to break so I wouldn't panic and spend a fortune on a race tranny just yet.
Oh and your camshaft is already bigger than the one I use in my 383. Are you sure you need more than that?
by the way the term "Nitro" is generally used in reference to the fuel Nitromethane which has nothing at all to do with Nitrous Oxide. Just wondering if you knew that.
------------------
*I do custom performance mods on Edlebrock Performer carburetors (dualplane intake mods in the works),
White 1986 Irocz, 305/383 with Edlebrock Performer-RPM intake and Performer #1407 carburetor, +110hp shot of crack, 700R-4 tranny, 3.25:1 rear, Mcreary Road-Stars, SLP-stainless 1.75" shortie headers & Y-pipe, single 3" Borla exhaust, Linginfelter-TPI camshaft part number 74216 pulls 17" vacuum solid. Cam specs 213/219 @.050 114-LSA, .462/.470 lift @1.5:1 ratio. MSD-6AL, billet distributor, multi-retard, blaster-3 coil, and RPM switch.
N/A runs 10.9 @124,
Crack-runs 10.3 @135
haven't run at track since Oct-99

Thanks, Nitro. I guess I gotta deale into the COMP catalog a little more. That's a nice cam for EFI with the 114LS. Acutally, I was gonna use HOT cam for my next TBI buildup but I may use that COMP'er instead.
Have fun with that bigger cam. Not THAT will have a nice idle to it!!!!
EDIT: Don, got any HIGHWAY mileage/HIGHWAY vacuum numbers for that comp cam??? thx
