What Tranny Do I have??? (How To ID trannys)
Ok Guys Im a total Idiot when it comes to Trannys. I have an 89 2.8 MPFI firebird and I cant figure out what tranny I have. I have A TH350 that I want to swap Into this car Along with an Engine (carbed 350 L98) Now What I really need to know Is if Im going to need A new Drive Shaft?? I have an 82 Driveshaft that was behind a 4 speed manual.. will that fit with the new TH350 or will the existing driveshaft work?? Any Help Greatly Appreciated

Do you have an automatic or a manual? All thirdgens from 84 up came with 700R4 automatics or T5 manuals. Except for 82-83, when the base trans was the TH200C automatic, and T10 manual. In 83, the 700R4 or T5 overdrive transmissions were an option upgrade over the equivalent non-overdrive trans. The 89 Turbo Trans Am has a 2004R automatic, and the Firehawk has a ZF6 manual. I dont know about driveshaft lengths on non-overdrive transmissions.
