T5 Shifting Problem

I just converted my car from an auto to a T5. When the car isnt running the tranny will shift through the gears fine. However when its running it is either hard to get to shift into gear or it wont shift into a gear and when put in reverse it grinds. Im not sure if this could be the problem but when I put the pilot bushing in, it wouldn't go in all the way (stil had about 1/8 of an inch to go). What do you think it could be, the pilot bushing, or the clutch still needs to be bled more?

Re: T5 Shifting Problem

try to bleed it more. When putting them in i have to always wiggle and shake the hell out of them to get it in. Be sure you haveit bolted up all the way. My buddy had a problem simmilar to this but his crossmember came loose and started to shift to the side some.

Re: T5 Shifting Problem

I'll bet the pilot bushing is installed backward. It'll go in either way, but when everything else is correct and it's having a shifting problem 99.9% of the time it'a a reversed pilot bushing. I know because i've done it. Put in a T5 tranny which I wrecked... Pulled it out to put in my new W/C T5 and found that the pilot bushing was in backwards. I have a strong left foot so I never thought anything of it, until I corrected it... Big difference.

Re: T5 Shifting Problem

Can any harm be done by having that pilot bushing sitting out that little bit?
