new tranny time

hi i have a 1990 iroc z came with no motor and no trans. i picked up a 350 small block and finally got it done. im guessing it has around 400hp and now i need to find a tranny. im wanting to go with a 700r4. i have called around to several local shops and none of them can rebuild me one because i dont have one to bring to them to rebuild. i dont feel like going to a junk yard and spending 100 dollars on one either. i would rather just buy one ready to go in. just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to buy one from?

Re: new tranny time

No suggestions but there are companies out there who sell them outright with no core required

Re: new tranny time

Generally, having a trans shipped will add $100 in shipping. Tough to come out ahead in this situation. If you get a core trans, be sure it's an '87-'92.
If you want to be sure of it surviving 400 HP and maybe nitrous, try www.700r4.com, look at their level 2 unit. Great trans, but their converters are crappy. I suggest a B&M Holeshot 2400. Then you need a way to lock the converter. I suggest the kit from PainlessWiring.
