T5 to 700r4 Questions

Here it is:
*Have a T5 in my '91 GTA. Selling it and I have a rebuilt 700r4 to run in it until I can afford the T56. I need to know what to do to swap from stick to auto. I know this is backwards but I will have a stick again when I can afford it. I know it bolts in and the driveshaft will work and the shifter assembly needs to bolt to my floor. What about TCC and TV cable? Speedo gears? What else am I forgetting?

BTW- I have a '88 GTA 350 auto car that the tranny will be coming from. It should have the parts right?

THANKS!!

Cooler and lines, maybe a different crossmember. The other stuff mentioned is
on various message boards almost daily. Use the same diameter flexplate and present
starter. I did this on my '83 Z28. It was EZ.

Thanks! EZ huh? Thats cool. What about the TCC and the TV cable though? Does the TV cable hook onto my TB or something? I'm automatic deficient haha

Thanks for the info so far! Anyone else?

I went the oppeoste route recently. The cross member is the same for both trannys. I am assuming you will be keeping the clutch pedal assy, since this is a temp swap. But remove the linkage from the clutch arm and tie it up out of the way. You will need to re-route the purple and yellow wires from the starter switch to the neutral safety switch on the automatic gear selector. You may need to add some length to the wiring. The reverse switch will need to be re-routed to the automatic gear selector as well. Also you will temporarily fill the hole in the floor pan with sheet metal screwed and siliconed in place. Normally there is another cable running from the gear selector to the steering column to lock it when in park. Also cut the tan/white wire running from the hatch release switch and re-route it to the gear selector. Now for the bad news. You will need to swap out your chip for one from an automatic car. Otherwise the TCC lockup won't work right. You might rig up a separate switch to manually lock up the TCC. Some guys are doing that when they junk their ECM. Good luck, Lon.

Thanks! I thought so about the the crossmember. As for the reverse lights and neutral safety switch... I'm not worried about them right now. What about the TCC? I'll have to get an auto chip? If I get the chip, then will it be ok? Is the TCC wiring already on my manual car? Thanks for the help so far! Also, what is the TV cable???

No the wiring for the TCC isn't on your car. You will need to wire one in. It is a 4-pin weatherpack connector. I could mail you my plug if you need it. E-mail me. Or you could just cut and splice to the wiring directly.
