good 5 speed for 5.7 tpi

Im getting into Autocross racing, and i want to swap my automatic out for a 5 speed, since im alot better at racing stickshift..
I was wondering what a good 5 speed transmission was for the 5.7 tpi that is for the most part a factory tune, i cant use a modified transmission or it will step my car up from stock to street tuned, and i cant afford the mods for street tune right now. any suggestions? *i will beat this transmission to hell racing it so something thats pretty solid*

umm, 5 speeds didnt come with the 5.7 from the factory. and a wc t-5 would be your best bet i guess, they came with the 305s. but ive heard that they wont stand up to a lot of power, atleast thats what ive been recently told. im not sure, look around.

Stock 5 speeds are realy weak, even the WC t5 won't last long behind a 5.7. Would a tremec tranny be ok for your class?

Your only option for stock is a World Class T5, available behind 305 TPI's and 305 TBI's in 1988-1992 f-bodies.

It should be ok behind a mild 350 but aggressive shifting will kill it. Third gear is the weakest.

Re: good 5 speed for 5.7 tpi

I emailed someone from the scca to find out what options i would have as far as the transmission goes... im hopeing they wont care about me putting something like a tremec tranny in.... but to be perfectly honest if they dont like the idea.. i might just lie about the tranny anyway.. i know the T5 would crumble... for autcross i throw shifts hard, i started autocross in a WRX STI, and you could abuse that transmission as hard as you wanted..
Im just hopeing that they arent to attentive to detail for the inspection.. i eventually plan to move to street tune or modified class anyway..

does anyone know what tranny was in the 4th gen Z28s? and would that fit up to my 5.7
