I am putting one in my car so i trecked sown to Pontiac for some info.. quite interesting. They say that the new versions require synthetic oil. 2000 was the "bridge" year. So, from 2K up use synthetic and 99 down use regular fluid.

What they're talking about is the factory fill.

Use the synthetic in ANY year.
