auto to stick swap?!?!?!?!
auto to stick swap?!?!?!?!
ok heres the thing, i have an 89 2.8 bird.im now on my 6th tranny.for some reason these 700r4's dont like to last.i also find it weird that my $hitty 2.8 can break these things.what i wanna know is how hard is it to install a 5 speed, or do the conversion. what do i have to look forward to??
Not very hard (espeically if you have expierence with manual tranny set-ups and not just sitting there with a bunch of parts and a book like I was). I'd say a 5-speed swap is about as hard as R&R of a 700-r4 which means either way you're looking at about the same amount of work.

Check out the article in tech section. It's pretty much right on. The worst part is swapping the pedals and installing the hydraulics for the clutch. Other than that the swap is cake.
Have fun!
