To rebuild or replace
I need a new tranny now should i rebuild it or replace it anyway it's a v6 700r4 and dose anyone know how much horsepower a v6 700r4 can handle thanks in advance Dave.
If you are not swapping to a v-8 and the tranny is rebuildable, I would just get it rebuilt. I will be able to handle just about anything the v6 can throw at it, unless you go with a turbo setup or something.

Get your TH700R4 rebuilt by somebody who knows something about making them better. I know a certain '65 Impala SS w/454 and TH700 that I'm sure is making a good bit over 350 HP - he's been running and driving it with that combo for over two years. The tranny has been the least of his worries. His car certainly weighs more than your F-body, too.
FWIW, he paid $650 for the built tranny ($200 for core, $450 for rebuild) - a better deal than most of us would get, but illustrates that you don't have to spend 2 grand to get the job done.
