90 rs 305 has difficulty shifting when heated up

My 1990 camaro rs 305 is a manual five speed and the car shifts perfectly fine when you first start the car and drive but if you drive for about twenty or thirty minutes in street driving, shifting alot, it starts to get difficult to shift, the stick feels like it doesn't want to go into the next gear, or if i come to a complete stop i have to just wiggle the stick around a bit before it will go into gear. If i drive it alot on the street, through heavy stop and go traffic for perhaps an hour or so it gets very difficult to put it in first gear after i come to a stop, i have to get both hands, stand on the clutch, and shove it into first. What is the problem here? thanks in advance guys.

Could be a few different things, but start by topping off the lube.

Mine does the same thing but only when cold. I would suggest changing the oil or try using a higher performance fluid.

Re: 90 rs 305 has difficulty shifting when heated up

Sounds like the clutch isn't releasing all the way and the input shaft of the trans is still spinning some so it won't go into gear. The clutch is supposed to release the clutch disc from the flywheel which in turn stops the shaft of the trans from spinning engine speed. Possible worn out pressure plate fingers, clutch not adjusted properly, clutch not bled enough, but probably the viscosity of the oil in the clutch system thins out when hot and either a slave cylinder or master cylinder has a small internal leak when cold but with the oil thinner when hot internally leaks more. Just a guess though because you aren't close enough to the phone for me to hear the problem. HA HA.
