Flex plate to torque converter match up

i'm replacing my 2.8 engine in my 84 Bird...question is....since i'm getting a new flex plate with the engine..due to this model being externally balanced..is there a special need to align the flex plate and torque converter? or can it just simply be bolted on without a difference?

you are getting a new trans too right? A 6-cyl trans won't bolt to an 8-cyl engine...
As long as the rotating assy of the engine is balanced, you can bolt the converter up any way you want.

The flex plate and balancer for an externally balanced engine are all thats required to compensate for the internal out of balance mass. The torque converter is neutrally balanced and doesn't care about the position it it bolted onto the flex plate.
