700r4 questions
I'm getting rid of my 700r4 transmisison from my 86 iroc. The transmisiso itself has about 125,000 miles on it. (by the way this is a parts car) The transmisison is pulled and ready to go but i have a few questionsbefore i sell it:
First- When i turn the shaft in the bell housing its really hard to turn, is that normal?
Second- I turned the tranny on its side and tranny fluid came out and these little white clumps came out with it, what substance is that? the tranny has been sitting for a little over a year
Third- If I push on the shaft in the bellhousing it pushes in a little bit but then goes back to its origianl position is that okay?
Thanks

The shaft should be slightly difficult to turn by hand. Especially in one direction.
There should be a small amount of movement, but if you noticed something over 1/16" somethings probably pretty worn (has high mi's, so it probably is worn)
White clumps? Possibly water/rain got inside during storage? Water corrodes the aluminum white.
If it worked good when removed, there's a pretty good chance there's still some life in it. But while it's out why not have it redone? If your selling it, you should be pretty cool with the person and hold the money for a couple weeks (small "warranty")
I know if I got a used trans and it didn't work and couldn't get my money refunded after wasting all that time putting it in/taking it back out, I would still return it through someones window!
