700 R4 stuck in first

My 700 r4 is stuck in first and I need some help from you guys. I have scanned the other posts and found the same problem and found different solutions. I pulled my governor out and I think it looks fine. That brings me to believe there is junk in my valve body. What is the proper way to remove and clean out a valve body? Are there any small/moving parts I need to be careful of?

Make sure the valve inside the governor moves freely. The TV cable must be adjusted correctly. The fluid level must be correct, a little high is ok.

Try adjusting the TV cable to make sure that it is correct, before doing anything else. The geometry must be the same as the TBI. Compare both and see what the differences are in the geometry.

Re: 700 R4 stuck in first

The tv cable is located on the throttle body assembly on fuel injected vehicles. on carburated vehicles i am guessing it is on the carb. it should be a bare wire for about 6 inches leading into a bracket or mount and then covered wire. that bracket is where you adjust your cable. it should have a plastic button on it. push and hold the button while pushing the wire towards the tranny. with the vehicle off go wot. you will hear some clicks. it has just adjusted. some fine tuning may be necesary.

Re: 700 R4 stuck in first

what did you try? putting in a shift kit or adjusting the cable? Hmmmm. I am no expert on trannys. I was thinking about your cable length. Is the TV cable from your old TBI or the new 350 you swapped in? If it is the same cable from your old TBI it might be the wrong length. Thats pretty much all I can think of right now. Did you do the swap yourself or pay someone to do it? If you paid someone and you cant fix er, bring it back to them and tell them whats up with it.

Re: 700 R4 stuck in first

A shift kit would not fix something like this. Is it only happening going into second? Did you change your tranny fluid and filter yet? And as for switching to the th350, I wouldnt waste my money if the 700 worked before the swap. Change your fluid and filter and if that does not do anything take it to the guy who did the swap and have him fix it.
