&*%&*% torque arm....

I'm trying to rip my trans out and i cant get the torque arm disconnected from the trans. I have the nuts off of the 2 bolts, as well as the cross member removed. I wedged a block of wood in the drive shaft tunnel to keep the arm from swinging upward but the damn thing just wont come off the trans, i tried to hammer it sideways to allow the bolts to slide out of the trans but it doesnt want to move. I'm gonna attemp unbolting it from the rear, maybe this will make my life easier....if anyone has other suggestions, please let me know i'll check back in a few hours if i have no luck

I thought there was three bolts that hold the front mount on. One might hold an exhaust hanger.

Split the mount, don't try to remove the entire mount from the tranny. Much easier.

What he said, remove the torque arm from the torque arm mount first, then remove the mount from the tranny. I don't think you can remove it all in one piece.

yep got them too...it's raining so im not gonna mess w/ it today...but it better be nice tomorrow so i can take the trans out of my car and swap the aforementioned pain in the *** trans in (the one im pulling now is from a parts car) swapping it out of my car should be easy now that i am aware of everything that needs to be done...anyway, i disconnected: coolant lines, speedo cable, detent cable, lockup wiring, unbolted torque converter, torque arm, cat bracket, drive shaft, cross member, all 6 bellhousing bolts...thats all there is correct?? if there's anything else i know i disconnected it im just forgetting to type it here...but now the bitch doesnt want to separate from the block...oh well i'll MAKE it hehe

A 86 T/A that I did a 350 swap on did the same thing. I got made put most of the bell housing bolts back in and took it out with the 305 then I had to use a pry bar and pry from the converter and fly wheel. it took a bit but, then it just broke loose and that was that just up and came off. kinda like mags can weld to drums and rotors.
