hey guys i have an 86 tpi IROC. i want to swap in a 6-speed and i was told that the crankshaft in my 305 may not be drilled to accept a flywheel? is this a possibility? some moron mechanic told my dad this and i don't think it is true, does anyone else know about this?

Must be talking about the bolt pattern for the flywheel to crank. No it will not work, but you can order a flywheel (centerforce) that works with the T-56 and bolts to a two piece seal crank.

i can confirm that your crank will not work because i am in the process of doing this right now and you HAVE to order a lt1 specific flywheel that will fit the larger journal 2 piece rear main crank. centerforce makes it and the part number is; 700107 (about $250-300)
