Clutch release install

Not trying to run this question in the ground. But I am installing a T5 in my 92 as we speak. I have read multiple swap articles on here using may different phrases and wordings. I have everything but one thing figured out. That would be the wholes needed for the clutch release cylinder. I followed the swap article looking of the imprint in the floor matting or possible knock outs in the firewall, and have neither. My question what is the best way to figure where they need to be. In the area where it needs to go there is very little room for error as we all know. ( measure 3 or 4 times cut once)

Re: Clutch release install

when i did mine, the pedal assembly that i installed had 2 rods that came down from the pedal area and rested on the firewall for support, the holes in the rods are the 2 small holes for the masters u-bolt thing. then just cut a oval holes between then using the master as a visual guide.
did that make sense? i could probably dig up a pic if you want.

Re: Clutch release install

yes that makes perfect sense. My pedal assy had them cut off. I measured 3 or 4 times and thought I had it correct. I found those 2 rods today at a bone yard. I pulled the assy out tonight and installed the 2 rods like they are suppost to be. I have now found my holes are off by about a 1/2 inch to far to the right but I believe I have enough material there for me to redrill and still be sturdy....I HOPE

Re: Clutch release install

That area will take alot of abuse from the pedal. Would it be worth making a little reinforcement after you've got the holes sorted out?

Re: Clutch release install

Guys I got the clutch master cylinder mounted. I lucked out the center hole was fine I just needed to rotate my template that half inch for the mounting holes to line up. But it is going to cost me, sliding out from under the dash I slipped and hit the clutch pedal blowing the end of the slave cylinder out.... WHAT A NIGHT....
