Anyone ever ship a manual tranny?
Anyone ever ship a T-5? I've heard it will ship UPS oversize but would like to hear from someone who did it. Best way to package it up? Cost? Any pointers would be appreciated. Thank ahead of time.
I have shipped A T5 It will go Ups if you keep it under 150 pounds. By the time the box was build it was around 125 pounds.
make the box out of 1/2 plywood and 1"X1" studs. The 1x1 studs will go on the inside corners of the plywood. The screws go from the outside, through the plywood, and into the studs that are in the corners. Make the box about 4 inches longer than the tranny to give it a couple of inches. Do the same for width and height.
To keep the tranny from sliding around in the box you will mount it just like it is mounted in a car. Put a 1X1 crossways in the box where the rearcrossmeber is on the tranny. Put the board High enough to hold the tranny off the bottom of the box. Then Use a couple of 2X4 boards to secure the front of the tranny. The 2x4 boards will also go crossways in the box one of them will have to be notched in the middle so it will sit flat on the front of the tranny. Drill holes in the Boards and fasten them where the Tranny bolts to the bellhousing.
I hope this made some sense I Might have a couple of Pics Ill look for them.
