New 700r4, tv cable doesnt do anything.

Ive got a brand new awesome 700r4, it shifts real hard in every gear, but i have to manually shift the thing right now. If i floor it no matter where it has never kicked down. Also if you leave it in drive it goes 1st to 2nd real quick and then straight to 3rd.....it doesnt hold any gears unless you manuall do it. Ive been using kickdowns for years and i know its hooked up right, any ideas?

Did you re-adjust the cable after you installed it?

That throttle valve cable is very important in the 700r4 tranny! If u dont hurry up & get that cable adj. right your going to burn that tranny up!

Well, it's not a kickdown cable. It's a TV cable.

Oh, by the way is it a carb or tpi set up? If its a carb & u have a holley carb on it you need a holley carb throttle/700 tv cable adapter. Most of the time when a 700 shifts from 1st to 3rd gear really fast the way u described, the T.V cable is very loose=low line pressure=destroyed clutches in tranny very quickly.

No matter where i move the tv cable it doesnt change the way it shifts, as if its not even doing anything. Its a brand new Art carr tranny to. Is there any kind of vacuum hose that runs to the tranny? i know turbo 350/400 use a vacuum line hooked to the tranny, i dont have anything like that right now.

What gearing do you have? If it is real low and the trans is not set up for it, it will shift early.

Here is a cut and paste from another post. It will tell you how to set the cable.

Do this: A)Loosen the cable. B) Make sure the throttle goes full, bend brackets, whatever till it does. C) With throttle still full, press the D button and pull the cable back all of the way and release the D button. D) Mark the cable for future reference.

You now have the cable and throttle set for true WOT AT WOT.

Try that and let us know what happens. If it still doesn't respond after that you have a problem inside ot the wrong cable geometry (very likely).

You said that it did not matter where the TV cable was set at? If this is true then the TV system is not responding. The only thing you can do is get Art Carr to exchange the transmission. I'm sorry to hear that, but this is not uncommon from what I hear about his transmissions.
