I have a '85 T/A with a 350 and a 3.27 posi rearend(I beleve this came from an '87 iroc).I want to replace my tranny but dont know what i should go with?any suggestions. the previos owner put a turbo 350 in it and I dont like the way they mounted it but I dont know enough about my choices to do anything right now.HeLp!

 

A performance 700R4, maybe built by PBAutomatics.

 

It did have the 3 speed with OD(700r4 I think)befor it was removed, dose the 700r have an electric overdrive?And is it run by the comp.?Will it still work now that the computer is not used?Any other options, i hear that they have a problem with the OD going out in them.Is there any truth to this?

 

I build all my own stuff. If I can't break a 700R4 behind a 425hp big block in a 1/2 ton truck, you won't have any problems.

All of my cars have one (except the wife's, it's a Dodge).
I only baby the paint and interior, not the gas pedal.

The overdrive in the 700R4 is not a weak point, its the 3-4 clutch pack. On all the units I build I do all the updates along with the Corvette servo, large boost valves, Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, 8-clutch 3-4 pack, etc. When setup right the 700R4 is a pretty good unit.
