26 or 28 spline?
Question:
Are all Camaros & Firebirds 10 bolt factory rears come standard with 26 spline.
Or do some come factory with 28 spline. And is there an easy way to tell?

Re: 26 or 28 spline?
From all I've seen, all the 90-92 rear ends came with 28 spline axles. A few 89's had them, but they were the exception and only those at the very end of the year's run...

Although a previous owner could have easily upgraded a 82-89 to 28 spline axles. The only way to know for sure is to pull the axles and count the splines.

Re: 26 or 28 spline?
If you're asking about your '88 rear end, its going to be a 26 spline if its a 10-bolt.
9-bolt rear ends have 28 spline axles, and '90 and newer 10-bolts have 28 splines also.

If it is a stock 3:73 it is from a pre 85 model is sure to have 26 spline axle shafts.

As far as I know the guts are stock, although I did crack it open when I got it, and the gear teeth had a nice edge to them at the time. And yes it came directly off the Firebird, as the owner at the time said he'd swap my 9 inch 2:73 for his 10 bolt 3:73. He said he wanted better economy rearend.
Thanks again everyone!
