LS1 T-56 Swap

ok guys, hoping someone here has done this before , and can help my with a parts list that I'll need. This is what I have......

I acquired a T-56 out of a LS1 01 Camaro. I currnetly have a 87 Monte Carlo SS w/ a ZZ4 GM performance 350 motor

I've heard that the bellhousing wont match up being that the tranny is from an LS1....Could I swap the bellhousing to one out of a LT1? Would the bolt pattern match up, is that the only problem with it?

Flywheel? any recomendations and sizes that will work for me.....Same with the Clutch

I have the Hydraulics that came with the transmission, anything else that I may need to swap?

Finally this isnt going to be a track car, although I wont be driving it like a 80 yr lady....it will get a work out from time to time, but I'm not planning on beating the crap out of it....

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.....thanxs in advance

Houlie

Re: LS1 T-56 Swap

As far as I know, the tranny will not work because the input shaft is also different.

Did you see the Sticky thread at the top of the page?

Re: LS1 T-56 Swap

you have to change the front cover and input shaft or spend 500 bucks on a McLeod modular bellhousing. Sorry those are the only 2 options.

Re: LS1 T-56 Swap

or option 3 use an adapter and pilot from mccloed and bolt it to your t5 housing.

If you dont have a t5 then just sell it and get an lt1 tranny. it would prolly be cheaper.
