why cant i shift?

Car: 86 Z-28
Engine: 356 4-bolt
Transmission: Borg warner T-5
why cant i shift?
i have an 86 z28 w/305 4bbl. when i bought the car it had a new trany. but now i find out its not an oem trany but a different kind. it is very hard to put the car into 1st and 2nd gear. its impossible to. i have to pump the clutch 6 or 7 times for it to slide into gear just nice. how can i solve this problem? thanks

If you have the hydraulic "linkage" you may have to replace the master or slave cylinder. Check for leaks and stuff. Bleed the system. Pumping it 6-7 times sounds like it may be leaking or have air in the system. Or the master cylinder might be leaking past the piston seal, which means replacement.
