A jerico manual planetary transmission.

If you wanted an auto at 600hp i'd say 4L80E with a controller but you want a manual and said 600+ so jerico or lenco would be good safe bets.

At about 600 horses a richmond might hold up. The t-5 and t-56 will be toast though.

600+hp + probably 600+ lbft + manual trans = $$$ Lenco, Bruno, Jeffco, Jericho, but bring your visa. We just put a Jeffco 4 speed street version in my friends blown demon (pics are on my page) and it was about $8,000 complete.

You won't see any 600+ HP cars with factory trannys. They either have one of the above mentioned ones or have gone to auto.

If you're "stuck dead" on having a 600+hp engine with a stick then you better start looking at a 9" or a 12 bolt for the rear end also. A manual will shock the rear end very hard. You'll also need a steel flywheel and clutch. The cast ones won't last very long.

Also consider on how to install one of those aftermarket manual trannys. They're not designed to be a bolt in. There's not much room under the floorboards so the tranny tunnel will have to be cut out and a new one fabricated.

The 3rd gen bellhousing has the clutch arm angled down at about a 45 degree angle. If it wasn't the the clutch arm would come out right at the gas pedal. You'll need a special bellhousing to replace a weak stock one.

Installing an aftermarket manual tranny into a high HP third gen will require a lot of planning and work. There's nothing wrong with automatics and they're much easier to work with. I currently have a TH350 in my car and may go to a PG next year. 88 427 Camaro has a TH400 in his car.

What's so special about having a stick?

An auto would run more consistant in a drag app also... If you're stripping the camaro down to under 2,800# an aftermarket race prepped powerglide would be the quickest ET to go, but you won't get much life out of it and must rebuild it often which isn't difficult because it's only a powerglide.

My friend runs a borg warner super T10. It is a rare one with a 3.42 low gear. You would think the devil had a hold of you coming off the line. I understand you want the fun of a standard. I would ditch my fresh built 700R4 in a heart beat for a manual.

I want a stick to be different and its more fun! nothing like barking 33x21.5 MT's!
I'm gonna mostly do street driving.
I'll drag it often...I can shift pretty consistent...
I've got a 9" already....4.10 gear...
probally gonna just rebuild the motor w/intake, carb, cam...winter or next year... 496ci rat....
I would love the tremec tko but..I hate buying expensive things twice...

No confidence in Richmond 4 speeds?

I would go with a warner super T10 then cause they are dirt cheap and tough as hell. My friend sold the one with the 3.42 low gear last night! It would have been perfect for you. A guy wanted it for his chevelle i think.
