anyone use gear splitters?

check out that site. I thought the idea of multiplying your gears by 2 is nice. That would give me a 8 speed automatic. The price is steep, but I was wondering the effects of installing one or if anyone has used one.

They've been around for quite awhile. They are very popular with the RV crowd. That should give you some idea about their toughness.
I've never heard of one in a thirdgen, though. Your "issues" would include torque arm, tunnel space, and crossmember mounting.
I doubt you could make use of 8 gears in the quarter, either. Typically, they're used as overdrive for street, straight through for track w/tall gears; or straight through for street, underdrive for track w/highway gears - rather than shifting on the fly.
